At 20 feet, the Com-Pac Horizon Cat is Com-Pac's largest gaff-rig sailboat. The Horizon Cat is small enough to be trailerable, and has a draft of only 2'2" with the centerboard up.
Com-Pac Sailboats
Trailerable Cat Boats, Trailerable Cruisers, and Cruising Sailboats by Com-Pac Yachts
Sailboats from Com-Pac Yachts range in size from 14-foot open daysailers through small trailerable cruising sailboats and on up to the Com-Pac 35. Owned by the Hutchins Company, Com-Pac Yachts has been in business since 1974, when they introduced the Com-Pac 16.
Among the most popular of the Com-Pac line are their cat-rigged sailboats, the Picnic Cat, the SunCat, and the Horizon Cat. Com-Pac dubbed their line of catboats "A new breed of Catboat."
The Com-Pac Catboats
The 14-foot gaff-rigged Picnic Cat has a centerboard rather than a keel. With the centerboard up, the Picnic Cat can be beached, making her a versatile boat for harbor cruising and island picnicing. With the board down, the Picnic Cat still draws only 2'8". The self-bailing cockpit is large, at 9'8" long, and with a beam of 6 1/2 feet, she's a very stable little sailboat. This little boat is a delight to sail and a breeze to rig.
The Com-Pac Sun Cat, also a gaff-rigged catboat, is a slightly larger sailboat, at 17' and with a beam of 7'3". This shoal-draft daysailer has a cabin suitable for the occasional overnighter, and she's outfitted with Com-Pac's outstanding Mastendr rigging system. The Sun Cat is available in a daysailer model with no cabin — which translates to a large and very roomy 12-foot cockpit.
The 20-foot Horizon Cat, Com-Pac's largest gaff-rigged sailboat, is a true Cape Cod cat with classic lines, a shallow fin keel, and large cockpit. The kick-up rudder is convenient, and the shallow fin keel gives her a 5-foot draft with the centerboard down, and only 2'2" draft with the board up.
Com-Pac's Legacy is a 16-foot trailerable sloop with a small cabin. It's fast and easy to rig and fun to sail.
Com-Pac's Cruising Sailboats
The Com-Pac 23/IV is the smallest of the Com-Pac line that can be considered a cruising sailboat. The Com-Pac 25, Com-Pac Eclipse, and Com-Pac 27/2 provide increasingly roomier and better cruising accommodations.
Com-Pac's top of the line Com-Pac 35 is a sea-worthy cruising sailboat with a long waterline, a beam of 11'10", and a draft of only 4 feet.
